GETTING TO MYKONOS
Getting to Mykonos is part of the adventure — and there are plenty of ways to make the journey your own.
Whether you fly through Athens, connect through another European city, or arrive by ferry from another Greek island, we’ve put together a few tips to make planning a little easier.
And since you’re already coming all this way, we hope you’ll consider making a vacation out of it.
FLYING TO MYKONOS
Mykonos has its own international airport (JMK), with seasonal nonstop service from a number of European cities. Depending on your travel plans, you may be able to connect through cities such as London, Barcelona, Milan or Athens and fly directly onto the island.
Another easy option is to fly internationally into Athens (ATH) and connect to Mykonos. The flight from Athens to Mykonos is only about 45 minutes.
Good to know: When flights open for September 2027, compare both a through-ticket to Mykonos and separate itineraries through Athens or another European city. Sometimes one is significantly easier than the others.

FERRYING TO MYKONOS
Already spending time in Athens or another Greek island? Arriving by ferry is a wonderful option.
Ferries connect the Greek islands with mainland ports including Piraeus and Rafina, as well as with other islands throughout the Cyclades.
Schedules vary by season, so we recommend waiting until 2027 schedules are released before booking this portion of your trip.
Fast ferries from Athens to Mykonos generally take 2.5 hours or so.
Good to know: If you fly into Athens and plan to ferry the same day, leave plenty of time between your flight and ferry. The airport and ferry ports are not in the same place.

Make a Trip of It
You've Come This Far
We know Mykonos is a long way from home, so if your schedule allows, consider adding a few days before or after the celebration.
Stay a little longer in Mykonos, spend a few nights in Athens, hop to another Greek island, or continue on somewhere else in Europe. Mykonos is well connected, which makes it an easy starting point for a longer adventure.

Travel Tips
✈️ Book Early
September is still a popular time in the Greek islands. Once your plans are set, we recommend booking flights sooner rather than later.
🛂 Passport
Make sure your passport is valid for your trip and check current entry requirements before traveling. For U.S. citizens traveling to Greece, your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned date of departure from the Schengen country.
🧳 Pack Light
Mykonos is casual, warm and full of stairs and cobblestones. Comfortable shoes are your friend.
💶 MONEY
Euros & Cards
Greece uses the euro (€). Credit cards are widely useful, but keeping a small amount of cash on hand is a good idea for taxis, tips and smaller purchases.
🧳 WHAT TO PACK
Island Essentials
Think light layers, linen, swimwear, sunscreen and comfortable shoes for Mykonos Town's cobblestone streets. Evenings can be breezy, so a light layer is worth packing. Outlet converters are also highly recommended.
💳 VAT & SHOPPING
Non-EU visitors may be able to claim VAT refunds on qualifying purchases when leaving the EU. You should ask the retailer for the appropriate tax-free paperwork at the time of purchase.
🚕 Getting Around
Taxis can be limited on the island. We’ll provide transportation details for wedding events where applicable. ATV rentals are also available if you're up for a little adventure
🛡️ TRAVEL INSURANCE
We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance for an international trip. Coverage may help protect you in the event of unexpected trip cancellations, delays, interruptions, lost luggage or medical emergencies while abroad.
We’ve partnered with Travelex to give our guests a convenient way to explore travel insurance options for the trip. You can review available coverage and purchase a policy here. As always, we recommend reviewing the policy details carefully to ensure the coverage is right for your individual travel plans.
